JOBSMART CAREER GUIDE

A job resource that helps readers to connect with the brightest and best job opportunities available to them

The PROBLEM

People need to be connected to the job market in an engaging way. There is also a general lack of knowledge on the wider breadth of job opportunities in different industries that people may be unaware even exist.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Ages 13+

The goal

An app that provides job info, trends, skill building and other tools in one location to help the user learn more about the job market and even get employed.

RESEARCH SUMMARY

I conducted a competitive audit in order to get a better idea of how to make our product stand out in the marketplace. I conducted interviews and created empathy maps in order to identify user needs. Our research centered around working age professionals in that area.

Our initial assumptions regarding the need for delivery options were confirmed in the response. There was also an appreciation for variety in the way they went about ordering.

USER TESTING RECAP

A usability study was conducted with a control group of people using the "Jobsmart" lo-fi prototype. Testing was in person and performed by myself. Coming out of the study I was able to glean a few insights regarding the app.

01 customers want tracking options

- 60% of participants wish there were a way to track orders.

- The same issue came up for those who want delivery or pick up options.

02 customers want a shorter personality test

- 30% of participants took issue with the length of time it took to take the personality test.

- Even for those who did not speak about it, I observed issues with personality test navigation.

03 CUSTOMERS WANT A SHORTER NAVIGATION EXPERIENCE

- 60% of participants wish there were a way to track orders.

- The same issue came up for those who want delivery or pick up options.

HI-FI PROTOYPE

Taking the insights received from the prototype, we were able to create a 2nd round of more refined mockups, detailing to the user what the experience would be for those ordering  using the app.

P1 REVISIONS

The web version of this platform is intended to be shorter than the app due to skipping the onboarding function. Functionality wise, the mobile and table versions have similar layout, while the desktop version uses more of a horizontal layout of information.

01 LAYOUT OPTIMIZATION

POTENTIAL RECOMMENDATIONS

01

Another round of studies to see if the changes are suitable for the audience.

02

Additional usability studies with emphasis on accessibility functionality.

CONCLUSION

impact

what i learned

This app really takes the capability of what this idea can be and conceptualizes it in a way that is simple and  makes for  an  effective tool towards ultimately finding a strong employment platform.

Sometimes it’s the simple implementations on  an operational level that can really give you the edge over competition in an industry that many would think is controlled strictly by size or taste.
